I’m Tyler. I work in tech, and in 2020 I left the big city for the rural foothills of the Appalachian mountains and started a garden.

I did not grow up with a green thumb. I learned the hard way — wrong soil, impatient watering, seeds sown too early, and more than a few plants I was sure would make it. Tyler Gardens is where I write down what actually worked the second time, so you do not have to lose a whole season learning the same lesson.

Most of what you will find here is practical: raised beds, containers, soil and compost, and a month-by-month almanac for Garden Zone 7A. I keep the tone honest. If a tool or kit is only useful after you already have the basics, I will say so.

Days still look like a tech career. Evenings and weekends look like dirt under the nails, a watering can, and notes for next season. If that mix sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
